AIR RAID 36/46
WHY ANOTHER AIR COMBAT GAME?
While playing other games we often encountered the following problems:
- Rules are overly complex
- Game takes too long
- Bad quality of miniatures
- Extensive tracking of status like damage, ammunition etc. slows down the gameplay
- Number of units doesn't scale - game tends to become confusing and slows down gameplay
TIME IS A SCARCE RESOURCE
Everybody knows it - you either don't have enough time or you are simply not up to read all those complex rules. Job and family demand their time as well and so there is not much left for your hobby.
We know this all too well. With AIR RAID 36/46 we created a game that is easy to learn and does not need much time to play.
It is not hard to make things more complex - ensuring playability is a challenge. Aircraft statistics have been researched with carefully by consulting historical facts. The optional rules in the rule book bring more detail to the game if players want to.
Die Kombination aus taktischem Können und Glückselementen steigert die Spannung und kann den Ausgang so mancher Schlacht noch einmal herumreißen.
METAL MINIATURES
Aircraft models with bent wings, broken off parts or surfaces so smooth missing any kind of detail - we do not accept such things these days. Especially not for prices being asked to pay.
We want to play with very high quality miniatures that can be handled without any fears to break something off. To ensure this we decided to use models at scale 1:200 that are made of metal. This scale ensures a sturdy miniature and is also not too tiny. The weight of the metal gives the model a good stability on the table and simply feels valuable.
Our highly detailed 3D models are created by a professional 3D designer. When we are confident with a model it will be printed in resin by an industrial printer. This resin master is then being used as template for the metal miniatures which are produced in Germany by Schilling-Figuren .
All these steps get a quality check so that we offer only models of such a quality to you which we would expect ourselves.
ADMINISTRATIVE BURDEN?
Other games often use rulers and templates to measure movement or to check line of sight which can sometimes be imprecise and can lead to players arguing about it. Writing down damage, ammunition expense and velocity is recorded on sheets doesn't make it easier when playing with an increasing number of planes.
Having fun with the game is most important for us. AIR RAID 36/46 is played on hex-field maps with clear rule definitions so there will be no players having an argument about this. Tracking damage and pilot experience is done by simply adding a colored chip to the base of the model. All needed stats like speed, maneuverability, firepower, etc. are listed on the statistic card of a plane. This statistic is only needed once per type of plane.
Time consuming tracking on sheets becomes obsolete.
THEATRES OF WAR
Not only the common theatres like war in the pacific, eastern and western front or africa are covered by us but also the spanish civil war 1936. We also aim for a fictional time after 1945 as if the war did continue.
ANY CHANGE WELCOME?
AIR RAID 36/46 can be played with dogfights head-on but also with demanding scenarios and mission objectives like bombing runs on ground targets or torpedo attacks on ships just to name a few.
In the basic rules there are also optional rules so that experienced players can add new details to the game and make it more interesting.
WHAT ELSE?
AIR RAID 36/46 is continuously expanded by new types of aircraft, expansions for theatres as well as additional rules.
As you can see we have some things in preparation for you.
